Pathology Results

The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate until that person has given prior permission for the release of the results or they are not capable of understanding the results.

If you have registered your current mobile phone number with us you will receive a text if we need to discuss a result with you. You can telephone reception and book a call-back telephone consultation about your results. Where possible the doctors endeavour to give results personally.

Please understand that our receptionists are not medically qualified and so cannot answer any questions about your results.


Routine haematology and chemical pathology tests, e.g. blood count, kidney, liver function, thyroid, blood sugar and cholesterol tests 1 week
Routine virology and immunology blood tests, e.g. tests for viral infections 2 weeks
Routine microbiology, e.g. swab and urine tests 3 working days
Routine parasitology tests 2 weeks
X-Rays and Ultrasound scans 7-14 days
Cervical smears 2 weeks

Please do not ring for smear results these will be posted to you

Tests that are organised by hospital wards and clinics are not normally available through our results service. You must contact the hospital ward or clinic secretary to find out the results of hospital tests

Please note that from the 1st January 2011 we will be charging for Private Prescriptions and increasing the charges for NON NHS Services.
