Specimens

Specimens going to the laboratory may be left at the reception desk before 10.30am Monday to Friday. Please ensure that the specimen containers are properly labelled.

If you feel you may have a urine infection a sample must be brought to the surgery in a specimen bottle and a form needs to be completed by 10.30am, this will then be dipped by the nurse and sent to the hospital. Any samples after 10.30am may not be checked and you may be asked to supply another sample.

Some samples may have to await result from the hospital before any medication can be issued.

Samples handed in after 10.30am on a Friday, or the last day of the week in the case of a Bank Holiday, may have to be left at the surgery over the weekend until our next collection on Monday morning. Please bare this in mind when deciding when to hand in your sample.
