World Mental Health Day 2024 10th October

On World Mental Health Day, let’s all come together to talk about mental health and show everyone that mental health matters.

Talking about our mental health can help us cope better with life’s ups and downs. So, on World Mental Health Day and beyond it, why not check in with your friends, family, peers, or colleagues?

World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on 10 October. This year’s theme set by the World Federation of Mental Health is workplace mental health. The theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations, and communities.

SOBER FOR OCTOBER!

If you’ve had one too many Pina coladas over the summer and you’re in need of a reset, now’s your chance to take advantage of an alcohol-free month.

Sober October offers people the opportunity to have a break from booze for 31 days and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

And although you might not drink as much as a university student, in England and Scotland, adults aged 55-64 are the most likely to drink more than the NHS recommended 14 units a week.

Tips to stay sober this October:

  • Avoid triggers that make you want to drink
  • Be prepared to say no
  • Find alternatives to drinking
  • Have a plan
  • Reward yourself with something else you enjoy
